Everything is prepared in house using only the freshest and local ingredients. Paula’s has become an institution in the world of breakfast restaurants. Look, the waffles and strawberries made such a purely sweet combo alone that I didn't need the whip cream or syrup at all. No complaints at all, would come back if I ever was in town. In 1971, Charles and Paula Greenwald gave up city life and moved to the wide-open spaces of the Santa Ynez Valley. In May of 1971, they opened their first restaurant, The Belgian Cafe, in Solvang.

The idea was to build a reputation and a menu around a variety of Danish pancakes and traditional American breakfast fare. To this day, the restaurant hosts many of the original customers who came here as youngsters and now bring their children. Unlike that pack, this accessory bundle lets you customize the colors of the thumbsticks, direction pad, and rear paddles (though not the finish of the thumbsticks' bases). There's also Scuf Gaming, which offers customizable controllers that are aimed at professional gamers. Scuf's Xbox One controllers start at $119, and can be customized with various types of thumbsticks, d-pads, grips, rear-paddle buttons and trigger locks for faster firing. Scuf offers lots of color variety for just about every component, and you can get special controllers inspired by popular eSports teams. There also aren't a ton of options for the face buttons, which come in either the default four-color scheme or various combinations of white and black. If you were hoping to, say, recreate the Super Nintendo's purple and pink buttons on your new Xbox pad, you're out of luck.
Personalize Your Elite Series 2 Controller with Xbox Design Lab
If you want to put your own spin on those controllers, you can spend a few extra dollars at the Xbox Design Lab. The online customization tool lets you outfit a gamepad with your favorite colors and an engraved name, which Microsoft then builds and ships to you. The Xbox Design Lab debuted during the Xbox One era, but it now offers the Xbox Wireless Controller included with the Xbox Series X/S and the Elite Core controller (with the option of purchasing the full set of Elite accessories). The ability to customize already excellent gamepads for a reasonable premium earns Xbox Design Lab our Editors' Choice award. There's a lot to love about Xbox Design Lab, but the vast majority of its customization options are, understandably, purely cosmetic.

Some "pro" controllers have swappable faceplates, which can be a great alternative if you also value added features on your controller, but this requires additional work and shopping on your part. For one, several popular color options from the first generation of Xbox Design Lab are still nowhere to be seen, like the gorgeous gradients. Still, there are still some older colors that players would like to see appear as options in the new Xbox Design Lab. After comparing and contrasting, I even found the rubberized grips to be superior to the excellent grips on the Forza Horizon 5 Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller that was my previous daily driver. Xbox Design Lab's greatest strength is also its most prominent selling point, and that's the practically endless possibilities afforded by its in-depth customization options. Xbox Design Lab allows you to customize to your heart's content an Xbox Wireless Controller, with a plethora of options available for the body, back, triggers, bumpers, thumbsticks, D-pad, buttons, and beyond.

I certainly know that each time I see another great new design that I’m not allowed to buy, and know that Xbox has gone to all that effort for something that will only eventually benefit as few as one person, I don’t feel great about it. Ultimately, I get that the point of these sweepstakes is to promote the brand and to increase engagement with either the Microsoft Rewards platform or the Xbox Twitter account (depending on where each sweepstake is held). There are at least ten of those controllers in that gallery that would have, at the very least, forced me to sit down with my wallet and have a serious conversation with it. That’s before I even start on the Xbox consoles too, which are given away in similarly limited numbers. As a faithful Celtic FC supporter I’ve visited the Xbox Design Lab on no fewer than three occasions to make my own green and white controllers – first for Xbox One controller, then a Series X controller, then an Elite Series 2 controller.
Once you have your Elite Series 2 controller, head over to the Xbox Accessories App and customize the Xbox button to perfectly pair with your new color scheme. Choose from a wide array of colors that combine red, blue, and green LEDs to produce over 16 million hues of light. While there, you can also set up different button mapping configurations to tailor the controller to your preferred gaming style. Customize the features of your Xbox Wireless Controller even more with metallic finishes for the textured triggers and hybrid d-pad, plus rubberized grips. See where inspiration takes you and create a personalized controller that is uniquely yours. Xbox and “X-Men ’97” have come together to bring you a very special Xbox Series X wrapped in a limited-edition comic inspired by the all-new series and created by Marvel writer Rich Douek and artist Paco Diaz.
I would love to buy a wrap for my Series X to give it a makeover but, with the very greatest of respect, I don’t want to make it look like a soldier hunting a polar bear. Give me that ’90s X-Men comic design as a console wrap and I’ll happily chuck money at you with the reckless abandon of a 41-year-old grasping desperately at his youth. Thanks very much, but that’s the only custom pattern available based on an IP – the rest are camo, vapour or the (admittedly eye-catching) Pride one.

Design Your Own Xbox Wireless Controller – Fallout
The best part is that Elite Series 2 controllers are designed to be fully customizable with interchangeable components, so you can play with a specific setup that works best for you. Choose the right components to unleash your best game, such as metallic paddles and different shaped thumbsticks. Add a custom designed carrying case to match your style and keep the controller and components secure and organized. Mix and match colors on different parts until settling on a design that is uniquely yours and have it shipped right to your door.
Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core (White)
For $20 more than the price of a standard Xbox One pad, you get to mix and match a whole bunch of fun colors, and can even add some personalized text for an extra $10. If you were hoping to customize an Elite, you'll have to wait for Scuf's option later this year. While I'd like to see some more color and face-button options, the Xbox Design Lab offers lots to like for folks willing to pay a bit extra for a controller that speaks to them more than the drab black one that came with their console. These prices can quickly go up, however, with optional upgrades like metallic triggers and D-pad, unique colorways for the body, rubberized grips on the rear and sides, and engraving. Xbox Design Lab is a customization program that offers different ways to create your own personalized Xbox Wireless Controller.
The Brotherhood of Steel stands as a beacon of might and stability among the fallen empires of this post-apocalyptic world. We’re excited to bring more choices to gamers around the world and can’t wait to see how fans reimagine what it is to be Elite. Enjoy mobile games to the fullest with GameSir X2 Pro—an Xbox-quality mobile gaming controller. Specially designed for Xbox cloud gaming on Android smartphones, X2 Pro sports Hall Effect analog triggers, ALPS analog joysticks, 2 mappable back buttons and textured rubber grips. The biggest complaint I hear from friends and co-workers is that the Design Lab doesn't support Microsoft's high-end Elite Controller, which has become a go-to accessory for Xbox and PC gamers alike.
And in now Microsoft tradition, it’s only available as part of a limited-time sweepstakes hosted on Xbox Twitter. To celebrate the release of X-Men 97 on Disney+, Xbox is giving away an Xbox Series X console wrapped in an exclusive two-page comic created by Marvel writers and artists. And yet, the sad reality is that the very best of these Xbox controllers can’t actually be bought by the public, because they’re created exclusively as sweepstakes prizes. And for anyone who wants a little inspiration or help, the Design Lab has a "Community Gallery" tab where users can see controllers designed by other people.
If you’re in need of inspiration, existing designs shared by other Xbox fans can be found in the Community Gallery where you can browse or choose a controller as the starting point for your own design. We have a bold vision for customization through Xbox Design Lab, and this update is just the beginning. Our team is hard at work developing new processes, testing new materials, and innovating so that we can continue to evolve the Xbox Design Lab experience. Over the coming months, we will share more information about new customization opportunities and new ways to personalize your gaming experience. Add more of your style with upgrades like metallic triggers and D-pads, and rubberized side and back grips for a personalized touch.
Over the years I’ve happily double-dipped and bought a new controller, even when my current one is working perfectly well, just because I think it looks cool. Gamers have usually tried to stand out by getting really good at a particular game, or sticking with a certain console. The Controller Shop lets you whip up much crazier designs if you're willing to shell out more cash. The most significant hardware upgrade is Bluetooth support, which is a godsend for PC gamers.
The sixth and final season was produced and released in 2018 without his involvement. Philip grew up in Louisiana (not New Orleans) before moving to St. Louis after graduating from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. When he's not writing about movies or television, Philip can be found being chased by his three kids, telling his dogs to stop barking at the mailman, or chatting about professional wrestling to his wife. Writing gigs with school newspapers, multiple daily newspapers, and other varied job experiences led him to this point where he actually gets to write about movies, shows, wrestling, and documentaries (which is a huge win in his eyes).

Rachel Brosnahan had a very limited time on House of Cards compared to other actors on this list, but by all means, she had a great impact on the characters she interacted with. Since leaving the series Brosnahan has starred in various different roles but her most outstanding one to date would be playing the lead role in the series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The lead actress of the series, Robin Wright portrayed Claire Underwood, the wife of Frank Underwood and the first female President of the United States. Wright was the only cast member to feature in every single episode of House of Cards and was one of the biggest advocates of the series to receive its final season.

The season ends with Frank and Claire watching the live execution of the hostage together, and Claire breaking the fourth wall for the first time by looking into the camera along with Frank.

Cast members including Wright, Kelly and Zimmer held court by the bar, ignoring their reserved banquettes until the party was well underway. The room gradually filled up so much that waiters with passed apps (flatbread, chicken, sliders, avocado and tomato toast) couldn’t make it more than 5 feet past the kitchen entrance. “It was obviously very sad, first and foremost,” star Constance Zimmer told THR at the event, held at the DGA theater in West Hollywood on Monday night. But Zimmer and the rest of her castmates were also extremely supportive of the actions Netflix was taking.

To keep the strategy of fear going, Doug blackmails hacker Aidan Macallan into launching a massive cyberattack on the NSA, slowing down Internet traffic and wiping out hundreds of thousands of files. Underwood's political machine stages a terrorist attack in Knoxville, Tennessee, which is pinned on a local suspected ICO sympathizer. With Pennsylvania secured by Conway and Ohio seeming to swing his way, Frank unofficially calls Conway directly to concede. However, this is merely a tactic to put Conway off guard, as the Underwoods contact Ohio's governor and convince him to close the polls early on the pretense of a terrorist threat.
The only two actors to have main appearances in all six seasons of House of Cards are Robin Wright and Michael Kelly. Meanwhile, Hammerschmidt continues to investigate Zoe's death, and is given information by an unknown leaker within the White House. Major document dumps are made available to Hammerschmidt, which, among other charges, prompts an impeachment hearing against Frank.
The Underwood ticket wins both Ohio and Tennessee, and Frank is sworn in as president and Claire as vice president. Here you will find an overview of the cast & crew of House of Cards season 1, including all the actors, actresses and the director. It seems like forever ago when Frank and Claire Underwood and the rest of the impressive House of Cards cast were making news for being a part of one of the most controversial and well-made original shows on Netflix. Over the course of the David Fincher-produced show's six-season run, the political drama was home to some of the biggest and brightest stars of the time as well as those who became famous for their portrayals of the Washington, D.C. Having filmed the movie before the allegations arose, it ultimately had a detrimental effect on the films commercial ‘success’.
Since House of Cards, Robin Wright has been featured in the likes of Wonder Women and Justice League as Antiope and has also starred in the Blade Runner sequel, Blade Runner 2049 as Lieutenant Joshi. Robin Wright, Michael Kelly and 'House of Cards' castmembers tell The Hollywood Reporter why it was important the Netflix drama returned for a sixth and final season after Kevin Spacey was fired from the series over sexual assault allegations. For all but the third season of House of Cards, Boris McGiver played Tom Hammerschmidt, the no nonsense editor-in-chief of the Washington Herald newspaper who proved to be a constant thorn in the side of Frank Underwood.
In response, the Underwoods set up extensive surveillance on all White House personnel. Eventually, the leaker makes a voice-modulated call to Hammerschmidt, implicating Doug in Zoe's murder. The Underwoods convince Doug to take the fall for killing Zoe, and the leaker is revealed to be Frank himself. The leaks are revealed to be part of Frank's master plan to resign the presidency to Claire, believing his thirst for power can be better achieved in the private sector, working alongside his wife's presidency. Frank, concerned about Secretary Durant's intention to testify at the impeachment hearing, pushes her down a short flight of stairs upon accepting her resignation, hospitalizing her.
If the stars properly align, he will talk about For Love Of The Game being the best baseball movie of all time. Until being written off after a number of personal controversies all but put a stop to Spacey's career, Frank Underwood was written off the show ahead of the final season in 2017. Kate Mara's Zoe Barnes was a major player in the first season of House of Cards when the Washington Herald reporter became the lover/mouthpiece of Frank Underwood. Well, that is until her shocking death at the hands of her former lover in the Season 2 premiere.

The Shepherds decide to influence Claire by other means, including through a Supreme Court justice they convince her to nominate. They and Seth Grayson also develop a mobile application which can secretly be used to monitor the user's activity, including their location. Secretary of State Durant also comes within the Shepherds' sphere of influence, and they persuade her to speak with prosecutors investigating the Underwoods as the Shepherds become increasingly distant from Claire. As Durant's testimony proves more threatening, Claire and Jane Davis plot to assassinate her, but she fakes her death and flees the country. Following this, Claire disappears for three weeks, prompting questions of her ability to lead, and leading Usher to plan to use the 25th Amendment to remove her from office.
On average, inmates at Middlesex spend an average of 18 hours in their 80-square-foot cell with a cellmate. Darden says in the P.A.C.T unit, the unspoken rules of jail politics fall by the wayside. Established in 1692, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the United States. The Vera Institute looked to Germany’s prison system as a model, which places great emphasis on rehabilitation and socialization for reentry.

Assistant Deputy Superintendent Scott Chaput and I enter a small atrium and the door shuts behind us with unmistakable certainty. Another door in front of us clangs open, and we step into the main section of the building and start walking up a ramp. Along the way, we pass the doors for C pod and D pod, cell blocks for inmates who have already been sentenced.

In 2020, HSU staff had nearly 125,000 contacts with individuals awaiting trial or serving sentences. Those contacts include – but are not limited to – physicals, sick calls, mental health consultations, optometry and physical therapy. Medical staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The HSU has a 21-bed in-patient unit, 15 of which are allocated to the regional Evaluation and Stabilization Unit (ESU).

Eyer, who had been with the department for six years, "fought for his life for several hours before succumbing to his injuries," the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a statement.
More gunfire came from inside the residence as officers approached the individual, setting off a long standoff, Jennings said. Middlesex DA Marian Ryan and Billerica Chief of Police Roy Frost said that Sgt. Ian Taylor, 59, was killed while working at a construction site on Billerica’s Boston Road. He was later identified by police as Terry Clark Hughes, Jr., 39. "Today is an absolute tragic day for the city of Charlotte and for the profession of law enforcement," Jennings told reporters. Taylor’s death struck a chord with police departments across the commonwealth. All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for County - medium facility. During their period of incarceration, individuals being held at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction are encouraged to participate in programming designed to allow them to better themselves and prepare for re-entry.
MSO operates the Middlesex County House of Correction, located at 269 Treble Cove Road in Billerica. This facility is used for the care and custody of people who are sentenced or awaiting trial. As of December 31, 2018, MSO reported that 790 inmates lived at the House of Correction. In addition, MSO houses 41 female county inmates at the MCI–Framingham medium-security reception and diagnostic center. The facility provides programs for women who are serving criminal sentences, are awaiting trial, or have been involuntary committed by courts because of mental health issues. Additionally, MSO operates a training academy in Chelmsford, administrative offices in Medford, and Civil Process Division offices in Cambridge and Lowell.
Chapter 127 of the Acts of 1999 amended the Massachusetts General Laws by adding Chapter 34B. This law made the Sheriff an employee of the Commonwealth, but the Sheriff remained an elected official and retained administrative and operational control of MSO. At the close of calendar year 2018, MSO had 647 employees, 471 of whom were full-time correction officers, who supervised and cared for the inmates in MSO’s custody.
At the Billerica police department, just up the road from the scene of the incident, bunting was draped over the front of the building, with flags lowered to half staff. "Every single one of the officers that work with Ian love him," Frost said. Incarcerated individuals cannot receive incoming telephone calls and MSO employees are not permitted to deliver personal messages to inmates. In the P.A.C.T. unit, this means inmates attend mandatory check-ins every morning and night, wherein everyone gathers in a circle and rates how they’re feeling on a scale of 1 to 10 and addresses any issues on their mind.
In a classic experimental design, participants are also given a pretest to measure the dependent variable before the experimental treatment begins. The selection of individuals into groups is denoted by R (random assignment) or NR (nonrandom assignment). Two lines denote two different groups, three lines denote three groups, and so on. Using this notation, we can generally classify designs into experimental and nonexperimental. We will talk about the experimental design first and then nonexperimental designs.
Testing Effects and the Solomon Four Group Design

Because the formation of the two groups was not through random assignment, we do not know if the groups are equivalent to one another. Variables that are unaccounted for could potentially be what is truly affecting the outcome rather than the treatment; thus, it is difficult to establish the effect of the treatment on the outcome we are trying to explain. The dependent variable is usually the intended effect the researcher wants the intervention to have.
Results
Because random assignment ensures that the two groups are the same and the only difference is the treatment, researchers can make the conclusion that the difference in the outcomes of the groups is likely due to the treatment. Because of these factors, an experimental design is best suited for the purposes of explanatory research to establish causality. Overall, true experimental designs are sometimes difficult to implement in a real-world practice environment. It may be impossible to withhold treatment from a control group or randomly assign participants in a study. In these cases, pre-experimental and quasi-experimental designs–which we will discuss in the next section–can be used. However, the differences in rigor from true experimental designs leave their conclusions more open to critique.

A difference between these 2 quantities means that the effect of the pretest is different in the presence of the intervention, in other words, there is an interaction between pretest and treatment. Systems to learn, processes to put in place, and developing business is a must. My passion for design continues to drive me to this day, and I love sharing my successes with young designers to help them navigate the maize of this profession. I will show you what has worked for me in easy ways that you can apply immediately to your design business. Architecture and Engineering sections provide in-house architecture and engineering resources and services for the Department of General Services and other governmental clients. I made the decision to quit my day job, and focus on running my design business full-time, and what a risk that was!
One experimental group and one control will have a pretest and posttest and the remaining groups will not be pretested. In this way, comparisons can be made between the two pairs and it can be determined as to whether the pretest had an effect on results. When conducting a study with a pre-test/post-test design (i.e., a repeated-measures study), one of the major threats to validity that you will face is the threat of testing effects. A testing effect occurs when scores on the post-test are influenced by simple exposure to the pre-test. For example, say you are trying to determine if a prep course is effective at increasing students’ SAT scores. You conduct a study in which you compare students’ SAT scores from before they enrolled in the prep course (pre-test) to their scores after they complete the prep course (post-test).

An interaction between pretest and treatment (or pretest sensitization) would exist if the pretest influences the outcome of the posttest, only in the presence of the intervention. Pretest sensitization (a.k.a. interaction between pretest and treatment) occurs when the use of a pretest increases or decreases the responsiveness of the participants to the study intervention. Any differences you find between the pre-test and post-test scores may be (at least partially) attributable to a testing effect. When the students take the SAT for the first time, they gain experience that may affect their performance on the next test, regardless of whether they take the prep course or not.

Pretesting can, after all, sensitize people to the purpose of an experiment, and this, in turn, can change people’s behavior. Since there are no measurements at time 1 for groups 3 and 4, this problem is controlled for. The Solomon four-group design is a research method developed by Richard Solomon in 1949.[1] It is sometimes used in social science, psychology and medicine. It can be used if there are concerns that the treatment might be sensitized by the pre-test.[2] In addition of the usual two groups (treatment and control), it has a second pair of groups who do not receive a pre-intervention evaluation. Difficulty in establishing causality can also result when there lacks a comparison group.

In another experiment, the initial test seems to indicate that teaching has an effect. However, (b) shows that without teaching the score significantly improves, (c) shows that without a pre-test the score is not as impressive as (a). The single post-test (d) gives a score similar to pre-tests, as might be expected. In addition to the basic pre-test/treat/post-test design, do three additional tests, one without the treatment, one without the pre-test and one without both pre-test and treatment. Note however, that this external validity issue is not specific to the Solomon four-group design, instead it is a consequence of the sampling method used.

Onsite analysis where we get to know you and your goals, understand your needs and any specific requirements for the space.
A researcher using a Solomon four group design must have the resources and time to use four research groups, not always possible in tightly funded research departments. Most schools and organizations are not going to allow researchers to assign four groups randomly because it will disrupt their normal practice. Thus, a non-random assignment of groups is essential and this undermines the strength of the design. In recent years, I have garnered many successes for myself and my design business. I was a member of the ASID TGC Chapter where I serve as co-chair for the 2017 Showhouse, past Chapter President of Interior Design Society Houston.
All of the designs we review in this section are variations on this approach. While there are multiple designs that exist, the purpose of your research will often dictate the best design to use for your study. If you are trying to establish causality, experimental designs will likely be the design of choice.
